Happy Easter From Bogey

Bogey wanted to wish each and every one of you a very happy Easter! While Easter is about so much more than bunnies and chocolate, Bogey looked too cute in his ears to not share photos, but I hope you enjoy your day with family and friends, celebrating the true reason for celebration on Easter!

Pin and a Spin

Since Easter is Sunday, I decided to go with a springy frock for this week's Pin and a Spin, found here. While I love bright shoes AND bright necklaces, I don't usually like to be matchy-matchy and have them identically colored, so in my "spin" on this look, I went with a neutral shoe.

I hope you have a fantastic Easter weekend!

Summer Sandals at Jones Bootmaker

jones bootmaker
I don't know about you, but I am SO ready for springtime to finally arrive! One of my favorite parts about warmer weather is getting to slip into some of my favorite sandals. Jones Bootmaker asked me to share a few of my favorite shoes with you, and I immediately gravitated towards their neutral sandals, since a little leg-lengthening illusion is so very flattering! Head over to their site to see the rest of their summer sandal selection here.

Kate Spade Saturday is Here!

Kate Spade's casual diffusion line Saturday has finally officially launched, and I'm loving so many pieces in the collection! Kate Spade for a fraction of the cost is awesome to begin with, but I'm really loving the cute dresses, skirts, bags, and home goods in the collection. It's kind of the perfect weekend wardrobe, and the home accessories would brighten up even the most dismal early Monday morning. I'm especially enamored by the weekender tote, by far my favorite piece in the collection, and you can even customize your own (including a monogram!) to make the perfect bag for you! Head on over to Saturday.com to check it out!

What I Wore: Bogey's First Visit to The Lawn

top: gap | jeans: h+m | shoes: sperry | jacket: kill city
We took Bogey to the Lawn this morning, and he had a total blast playing with all of the people, crashing a picnic (he was a welcome guest!) playing fetch, and digging in the little former snowman left from the storm. I kept it super casual, since I knew we were going to be playing and romping around with him on the ground. I promise I'll have some more fashion-related content right now, but I couldn't help but share more photos of his cute little face along with today's outfit!

Meet Bogey, Our New Golden Retriever Puppy

So, yesterday was a very big day at our house.....
Meet Bogey, our Golden Retriever puppy!
He's seven weeks old, and the sweetest little guy.
And we're pretty much in love with him.
He surprisingly really liked the snow- had a crazy freak snowstorm here this weekend!
But then he got cold and we had to warm him back up!

What I Wore: Boar's Head Inn

Brett and I met some friends out at Blue Mountain Brewery for dinner Saturday night, and stopped at the gorgeous Boar's Head Inn on our way out to dinner. The grounds of the inn are stunning, and I love the little lake they have!

Pin and a Spin

perfect weekend outfit

I loved this pin from the first moment I saw it. I think it's the perfect mix of casual and dressy, and would be an ideal Saturday outfit. Wear it with flats for errands during the day, and add the pumps later for the evening.

Have a great weekend!

Best of: Spring Jackets

Growing up in Arizona meant that I never really understood the idea of a "spring jacket," aside from the cardigans we kept in the car for when we visited the overly air-conditioned movie theatre. However, since moving to a colder climate, I totally get it now. I don't want to wear my wool coat for any longer, and it doesn't really "go" with my lighter spring clothes. I love the range of the above jackets, because it doesn't matter if you're looking for a light blazer with preppy stripes, a Sixties floral swing coat, or a super-feminine pink cropped coat with bows, there's something for everyone here. Happy second day of spring!

What I Wore: Leopard Again

leopard dress
dress: vintage | tights: express | jacket: sanctuary | belt: vintage | hair pin: ban.do
I know I just wore leopard last week, but I'm kind of obsessed with it right now. I'm totally burnt out on wearing all of my winter clothes, and I found this dress in the back of my closet and decided to wear it with tights and a jacket to make it a little more seasonally appropriate for a happy hour date with Brett. Spring, come soon!

Retro Sunglasses at Glasses.com

Even though Charlottesville got a dusting of snow yesterday, I know that spring and summer are right around the corner, which means lots of time spent outdoors, which, in my mind, makes me think about my spring and summer wardrobe, including stylish sunnies. Glasses.com asked me to share some of my favorite sunglasses from their site, and I'm especially loving all of the retro sunglasses, especially the cat-eye sunglasses, on their site. I tend to stick to my classic Wayfarers, but I'm really loving the idea of branching out into cat-eye sunglasses, because they just seem so playful and fun! Glasses.com has glasses from a variety of designers, ranging from Ray-Ban to Derek Lam, and if you're not crazy about the retro trend, they have lots of more "classic" options, too!

Best of the Best: Cole Haan Shoes

cole haan pumps

Cole Haan shoes are by far, the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They actually are made with Nike's Nike Air technology, so they basically have a tennis shoe support but in a prettier form. I adore all of their pumps, but their ballet flats, sandals and loafers are great for walking around and pairing with casual things. Yes, they are pricey, but they often go on sale (I've found almost every pair I own at Nordstrom Rack!), and they really do last for a very long time, even with regular wear!

Glitter Gal Australia Nail Polish Review

I'll admit, when it comes to nail polish, I usually stick with brands I know and love, which translates into a lot of OPI and Essie winding up in my box of nail polish. However, when Kerry, from Glitter Gal Australia reached out and told me about her line of polishes, and the materials they use to make them, I decided I was open to trying something new.

Glitter Gal Australia sent me two of their polishes, Nude, and Teal Blue, to try out, and I have to say, I was really impressed. The polishes both had so much depth to them, and the holographic particles picked up light like diamonds. I applied three coats of each of the polishes to reach full opacity, and the polish's formula is a little thinner than I'm used to, which required a little extra caution when applying. That said, these are sparklier than almost any polish I've ever tried out, but they had a smooth finish, not chunky, like most glitter polishes. All of Glitter Gal's polishes are Big-5 free (so, non-toxic) and they are also vegan-friendly. The morning after I applied the polish, I had to do a bit of cleaning around the house, and the polish really held up- not a chip in sight. Although Glitter Gal is an Australian company, they ship internationally, and you can buy the polishes here.

(Disclosure: Glitter Gal did provide these polishes to me as a sample to review, but all opinions are my own.)

Best of the Blogs

A few of my favorite things from around the web:

Manolo Blahnik's interview in Interview

Sarah has been killing it with her advice column

I loved Gina's post about preparing a whole week's worth of healthy food in one hour!

And did you see my sweet husband over on vmac & cheese in Victoria's "Man Behind the Blog" series?

And this week's Pin and a Spin

Pin and a Spin

lauren conrad style

I loved this pin of Lauren Conrad with a bike, originally from her Kohl's line shoot, so I decided to put my own spin on the look. I think Lauren's wearing some pretty high stilettos, but I think the above wedges are probably a little more practical, and these mini-wedges would be even better if you're super accident-prone, like me!

Going Green

st. patrick's day

With St. Patrick's Day this weekend, I thought I'd round up a few fun green accessories! I've never been a head-to-toe green girl, but I love a little pop of the bright hue in some fun accessories. In addition to the finds above, I'm also loving this bag and these adorable shoes!

What I Wore: Leopard Cardigan

pim and larkin dress | michael kors berkley sandals (gift from my very sweet mother in law!) | cardigan: forever 21 | belt: j.crew (on sale!) | sunglasses: ray-ban | bow necklace: ted baker

Yesterday, I celebrated it being 65 and gloriously sunny outside by wearing a dress, my favorite leopard print cardigan, and my cute new sandals from my mother-in-law! So crazy that it went from snowing a week ago to warm and sunny today, but I'm digging the warmer weather.

In other fun news, Brett is featured today on one of my very favorite blogs, vmac + cheese,  as part of Victoria's "Man Behind the Blog" series today! Head over and check out his interview there

Best of the Best: Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner

best pencil eyeliner
I'm pretty particular about my makeup, and like I've mentioned before, I'm really loyal once I find something I love! I branched out and tried this Make Up Forever eyeliner pencil a few years ago, when I was pretty disappointed with my previous one, and I haven't looked back since. I'm lacking in the fine-motor skills department, so gels and liquid liners have always kind of overwhelmed me, so I've always stuck to pencils, even though experts say gels can last longer. I'm all about finding what is a workable product for you, and this one is perfect for a pencil. It goes on smoothly, without tugging gentle eyelid skin, is easily "smudge able" for the first couple minutes if you're looking for a smokey eye, but after those first few minutes, it stays in place all day long, without migrating or wearing off! I do use makeup remover to get it off at the end of the day, it's tough to take it off without that, but not difficult with remover. An added note- I have pretty sensitive eyes and wear contact lenses, and this has never bothered them one bit! You can buy it here

Baby Shower Inspiration Photos

I'm throwing my very first baby shower (with the help of a friend here in town) for a dear friend (she's expecting a baby girl, if you couldn't tell from all of the PINK!)  in just a few short weeks, and I'm so excited! I'm a little nervous, since I've yet to throw a shower on my own, but I'm excited to partner with Minted.com on the party- I know their decor kits will make things a lot easier! I've been collecting inspiration images and ideas for a while, and here are a few of my favorites so far!

Pin and a Spin

spring outfit ideas

Even though it snowed 10 inches in Charlottesville two days ago, it's supposed to be in the low 60s the next two days, and I couldn't be happier. I'm celebrating with a transitional spring look for this week's "Pin and a Spin" post! Realistically, I might need to sub out the sandals for ankle booties...it's not that warm here yet!

Glossybox Review

I was so excited when Glossybox offered to send me this month's box to review! This month's Glossybox theme was International Style, and the Glossy Mag was filled with travel tips for visiting the fashion capitals of the world, and making sure your makeup looked flawless while traveling!
glossybox review

Exclusively available at one of our favorite New York beauty boutiques, this lip gloss is the perfect product to punch up your look. With a semi-sheer formula that is rich with shine and features a delectable scent, the gloss is perfect to layer over your lipstick for a glamorous pout.
My thoughts: I've mentioned before that I'm more of a lipstick girl, and that I'm usually not crazy about lip glosses, but I really liked this one! While the coverage was sheer, the gloss provided shine with a texture than seemed to be a mix between a lip stick and gloss. The coral color is a perfect spring hue, too! Bonus: this one is only $7, which is awesome, because I can add more to my collection, unlike samples of super pricey products that I adore but can't fit the full-size edition in my budget.

Nail Rocks | Nail Wraps
Take a walk on the wild side and embellish your nails with these fashion forward nail wraps designed to last up to 10 days. With no chipping or drying time, no wonder it is the current favorite of beauty bloggers everywhere.
My thoughts: I was a little hesitant when I saw the nail wraps in this month's box, since I didn't do so hot when I tried applying the ones from a few boxes ago, but decided to give these another shot. I LOVED the silver, gold, and black pattern, and think that having a crazy (read: hard to create with traditional nail polish) pattern on the nail wraps makes the arduous application process worth it. The wraps from Nail Rocks were MUCH easier to apply, and while I had some issues with bubbling, I managed to do all of my fingers in around an hour. They've been quite the distraction while I'm typing, however!

This versatile shimmering mineral powder is one of America’s best kept beauty secrets. Made from the highest quality ingredients, it gives your face a subtle glow when you apply with an eye shadow or blush brush as an under eyebrow or cheek highlighter.
My thoughts: The powder I received in my Glossybox was a darker mauve color, so it didn't really work as a blush or highlighter, but is perfect as an eye shadow for a smokey eye.

This innovative hydro gel mask is an Asian beauty secret. It moisturizes, soothes, regenerates your skin, and is known to reverse skin damage as well as have natural healing powers when applied. Word on the street is it has a huge celebrity following!
My thoughts: Full disclosure: I almost chickened out of trying this mask when I saw the words "snail gel" on the outside of the packet. I decided to give it a go anyways, and I'm so glad I did. My skin feels so much softer, my dry and flakey winter skin is repaired, I felt like I had a little bit of a glow, and wearing a mask always makes me feel like I'm at a spa, which is never a bad thing. I'd definitely consider purchasing some of these to use before special occasions.

Calming, serene and intimate, it is a luxuriously elegant expression of sensory pleasure. The Eau Parfumée au thé blanc notes in a soft and rich lathering soap for men and women, that cleanses the skin while hydrating it.
My thoughts: Frankly, I'm not a huge bar soap fan, but I love the way this smells, so I may slip it into a drawer to use as a little scent satchet instead of it's orignial intended purpose!
