Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday, friends! What are you planning to do over this summer weekend? Brett and I are planning on watching an outdoor concert with some friends tonight, taking Bogey to a puppy friend's first birthday party (I'm not going to be able to handle the cuteness to follow) and driving up to Fairfax for our friends' baby's baptism! All in all, should be a great weekend!

I'm thinking I might "need" to whip up a batch of these frosty drinks at some point to battle the heat, and you'll be sorry if you miss out on all of the great sales this weekend! PS- is a long trip in your future? Check out my most popular blog post ever, and figure out how to pack for up to two months in two suitcases

Sale Alerts!

It's sale season, which is pretty much my favorite season! I've rounded up a few picks from my favorite stores, all at HUGE discounts. Go, shop, and thank me later.

shopbop sale code
Shopbop is currently offering, until the end of today, an extra 25% off their already major sale. My favorites include this fun party dress, these perfect boyfriend jeans, and the most amazing rose gold sandals, ever.
Madewell is one of my all-time favorite stores, and I love pretty much everything in the shop. Favorite sale standouts include this pretty lacy tank, a classic trench and silk shirt, and the perfect reversible stripes/polka dot bikini.

J.Crew's sales never disappoint, and right now, everything is an extra 30% off! Right now I'm loving this quirky printed top, this perfect piped white blazer, and since I can never have too many striped shirts, this version of the style staple.

Gap's dresses are 50% off today only, and there are also a bunch of other great deals on their site! My favorite dresses include this printed number, the perfect chambray shirtdress, and this casual-cool tank dress.

Best of the Bar: Drinkware Essentials

glassware essentials for the bar

Hi guys! I'm back from a little unexpected blogging break- I got a sinus infection that knocked me out for a few days! Today is the next post in our Best of the Bar series, and this week's topic: the essential glasses you need to fully stock your bar! I've always had a thing for glassware, so this post was extra-fun for me to put together. I tried to include some budget-friendly options, since fully stocking the cabinets can be a little expensive. Most of the glasses I chose also are sold as singles, so you can always expand your collection at a later date!

What I Wore: Special Stripes

Just what I wore for some rainy day errands. My Hunter boots make me not totally dread rainy days, and my stripe obsession continues with this little embroidered J.Crew version that I scored for all of $15 this week.

WHIT Two at Anthropologie

Whitney Pozgay's line WHIT is one of my favorites. Her quirky, vintage-inspired style is pretty much perfection, and Whitney herself is Kate Spade's niece! When I heard about her capsule collection for Anthropologie, I was pretty excited. And if you happen to be a petite size, this collection is perfect for you- every piece comes in petite sizing, and some are petite-sized exclusives! Whitney is a petite girl herself, and wanted to create a line for petites at an  Anthropologie price point. I mean, how amazing is that first dress? Shop the whole collection here.

Just a few photos of Mr. Bogey to brighten your Monday. He's such a little sweetheart, and I just love him to pieces. We took these out at Boar's Head Inn, and on the drive home, he was standing in his usual spot on the console between the two front seats, and he just put his head down on Brett's shoulder. Little heartbreaker, that one.

Glossybox Review

Glossybox sent me their May box to review, and I'm so excited to share what was inside with you! If you've never heard of Glossybox, it's a beauty sample box service, which means you pay $21 a month to receive a box filled with four to five deluxe sized samples (this month actually had 6!). For more info, you can check out their site here, and keep reading for my reviews of the products in this month's box.

The Volupt Spray is a volume-building spray gel with the cushion particle technology that best combines full volume and sensual softness. Shake well to activate its two-phase for- mula and spray on damp hair. Blowdry for extra body or air-dry to enhance waves and curls.
My thoughts: I tested this product out when I wore my hair in a slicked back pony with volume at the roots, and it was PERFECT for this style. It really helped build volume, but was stronger than my standard hairspray, which ensured that my flyaways stayed in place, which is no easy task, especially in high humidity.

This Color Control Cushion Compact is a multitasking wonder. It contains powerful broad-spectrum SPF protection to combat free radicals, deep hydration for replenished skin, and complete coverage for smooth skin all in one lightweight, portable compact.
My thoughts: The product dispenses through a sponge in the little pot, and you apply it using a little sponge applicator that's provided. While I liked the product, I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about the size of the sponge applicator: it was so small that it took me much longer to apply across my face than my usual foundation brush. However, this may just be an issue with the sample size packaging! The actual product was very light, and really melted right into my skin, and I loved that it has SPF 50, a rarity in most foundations.

My Prime’s lightweight moisturizer packs a double punch with intense hydration and superior anti-aging benefits while delivering a flawless, matte finish. It also doubles as a primer that keeps your makeup on all day long.
My thoughts: I loved that this product is both a moisturizer and a mattifying product, since you usually need two products to cover those bases. The product instantly made my pores visibly less noticeable, and kept my skin shine-free all day long.

This restructuring and moisturizing Collagen & Aloe Vera mask provides skin with an extreme moisture boost that improves elasticity and promotes hydration. Tip: Use it just before bedtime to reap optimum benefits.
My thoughts: This was my favorite product of the month. My skin felt super-moisturized after using the mask, and I noticed a decrease in fine lines on my forehead, too! Plus, the whole mask experience always feels a little spa-like, and how can you not like that?

Nourishes and softens skin while decreasing hair density to allow for softer, thinner hair growth.
My thoughts: Two little sample packets were included in the box, so I can't really attest to the "decreasing hair density" aspect of the lotion, but as far as body lotions go, it was very nice. Hydrating, but not greasy, and lightly scented. European Wax Center included a free wax (for first time guests) voucher in the boxes as well, which is also great!

Absolute! Solid Perfumes embody the spirit and passion of New York, the city that never sleeps. Escape the everyday with evocative scents, both refined and seductive, and each with a different secret to discover. Parceled in beautiful, boutique-inspired packaging, these addictive perfumes are perfectly sized to slip into your purse and transform your world.
My thoughts: I received the perfume stick in "Lux 369" and while I love the idea of the stick, I wasn't crazy about my particular scent, but I'm admittedly really particular about perfume. This scent is mostly white florals with a citrus undertone. The stick idea is perfect to travel with, though!

BONUS! Right now, Glossybox is offering a free Model & Co Lip Tint with any Glossybox subscription. Use code GIFT, offer ends June 30!

Best of the Bar: Bar Carts

left column: 1/2/3 right column 1/2/3

I've had this obsession with bar carts since the first time I saw one on Gilmore Girls when I was probably 13; Loralei's mother had one, and I was instantly captivated by the cart's glamour. Kind of a weird thing for a 13-year-old to want, but I digress. So, logically, when I decided to do start my Best of the Bar series, bar carts were going to have to make an early appearance! I love all six of the ones pictured above, and they run the gamut on price points, from this budget buy to this splurgey-splurge. If you're wanting to keep your cocktail selections a little more under wraps, may I suggest this sweet little bar cabinet

Kate Spade Summer Totes

kate spade tote bags

I love Kate Spade all year long, but the brand's whimsical aesthetic makes it exceptionally appropriate for summertime. Each year, it seems that the designers outdo themselves to create the perfect fun tote bags, and the above collection are just a few of my favorites--with so many options, it's hard to choose just one favorite!

Active by Old Navy Sale

top: 1/2/3 // bottom: 1/2/3
I have this thing about workout clothes. I think it's really important to wear clothes to the gym you're comfortable in, and that make you feel confident, but personally, I'd rather spend my wardrobe money on dresses, rather than tank tops and crops. Old Navy is having a KILLER workout clothes sale, which makes super-cute workout wear affordable, too! I picked up the center tank earlier (along with another top I can't seem to find online!) and it's one of the most flattering gym tanks I've ever tried on. All of the sports bras are on sale for $8! It can't get any better than that, right? Go check it out here- and their gym gear for guys is on sale, as well!

Shorts Story

Last week was the first really hot week of the year here in Virginia, and I went into my closet and found exactly two pairs of shorts...that are identical. You see, when I love something, I buy it in multiples, and I scored the perfect denim shorts at the beginning of the season for regular price (a rarity, but they were that good!) and at the end of the season for $6. (Score of the century!) The problem is, I have a hard time finding shorts I love, which I'm pretty sure is a universal style struggle for women. But, that leaves me with two pairs of shorts that basically look exactly the same, and I've been wearing them on rotation since then. I'm thinking I should probably slightly expand my shorts-drobe, and these are a few of the pretty options I found while window-shopping!

What area of your summer wardrobe needs restocking?

Rue Magazine Home

Have you ever seen a home that doesn't seem like it's the style you think you'd choose, but you want to move in right this second, anyways? That's how I felt when I saw this gorgeous home on Rue's website today. I love all of the details, and the light, airy feeling. Head over here to see the rest of the house!

Best of the Bar: Accessories

monogrammed bar accessories

I've always loved beautiful glassware and bar accessories, long before I ever sipped a cocktail. My mom definitely passed down her love of entertaining to me, so I thought I'd start a fun little series called The Best of the Bar, and share pretty accessories, glassware, bar carts, and the like, over the next few weeks. I'm starting with some awesome accessories, because even if you don't have an actual bar (or room for one, like me!), you can carve out a corner of a table or countertop and keep it stocked with essentials when you have guests over!

PS- if you're looking for summer cocktail ideas, try these or these! They're both perfect for when the weather is hot.
