Best of Lucky Fabb: Rachel Zoe, Lauren Conrad

Last Wednesday and Thursday, I attended the Lucky Fabb blogging conference in NYC. If you haven't heard of it, my mom explained it to my dad that it was kind of like going to Augusta to watch the Masters (golf tournament) of blogging, and that's probably a fair explanation (he's a big golf fan, and texted me telling me to "enjoy my Masters" right before I left- he's a sweetheart).

It was such a great experience, and I feel like I learned so much about blogging and social media in a super short time period- I'm still processing it all. Rachel Zoe and Lauren Conrad were the keynote speakers, and their insights on fashion, business, and life were both informative and inspirational. A few of my favorite people to follow through their blogs and/or Twitter accounts were there too, like Erica from P.S. I Made This, Aliza Licht (also known as DKNY PR Girl), and Leandra Medine, The Man Repeller. We had the opportunity to meet a few brand reps, which was exciting, and  I got to meet a few of my favorite bloggers, and make new friends, too! If you're a blogger, I highly reccomend the conference!

Because I'm a social media geek, I've included each speaker's twitter handle and website below the photos. There were several other panels, but I didn't take photos of each- these were my favorites!
Rachel Zoe, stylist, designer, reality tv star and businesswoman extraordinaire, and Lucky Editor in Chief, Brandon Holley. Big news from the panel: The Rachel Zoe Project (Rachel's TV show on Bravo) has been renewed for another fabulous season! One of my favorite lines from Zoe during her talk: "As soon as it's easy, you need to be doing something else."
"The Big Picture" panel, moderated by Lauren Sherman, the Executive Digital Director of Lucky, with Leah Chernikoff of Fashionista, Annie Georgia Greenberg of Refinery 29, and Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller. My takeaway from this panel: we shouldn't be afraid to have an opinion, and in the digital era, we're all sharing similar things. What's important is to present it in a different way from everyone else.
Lauren Conrad, reality TV star, author, and designer and Lucky Executive and Fashion News Director Jean Godfrey-June- you can barely see them in the photo, but Ms. Godfrey-June had on one of the most amazing, intricate pairs of shoes I've ever seen!
"Amplifying Your Brand" panel, moderated by Deb Schwartz, Executive Editor of Lucky (who also gave a great talk at a breakout session about developing a voice for bloggers) with Susan Lyne, the Chairman of Gilt Groupe (she's tucked behind Deb), Lauren Bush Lauren, Co-Founder of FEED Projects, Aliza Licht (DKNY PR Girl), Senior VP of Global Communications at Donna Karan International, and Erica Domesek from P.S. I Made This. Erica had one of the funniest lines of the day, when she encouraged bloggers to "Embrace your cray."
I was so excited to meet one of my favorite bloggers and Twitter friend Alyson from Average Girl's Guide!
The ironic part of the day: I spent almost 12 hours with 300 fashion bloggers...and didn't take a single outfit photo. Whoops. I'll share photos the next time I wear the outfit, but it was the above leopard peplum top from Zara, a (faux) leather pencil skirt, and Kate Spade bow t-strap shoes.

Next up: Day 2 of the conference!

  1. Such a great conference, and yeah, it was hard to find time for outfit photos - I took about two minutes to squeeze one in. they kept us busy the whole time!
