So, you woke up really late. Or your boyfriend just called and is on his way over and wants to go out to dinner. Or your coworkers decide to go to an impromptu happy hour, and you've been sitting at your desk since breakfast. Or you just don't feel like doing a whole lot, appearance wise, but you still want to look nice. We've all been there. Here are my favorite five ways to look more pulled together in five minutes or less.

-Spray your clothes with wrinkle spray. Start with this, so the spray dries. If you're really pinched for time, stay in your clothes and spray them.
-Apply lipstick and use an oil blotting sheet. Bright lips distract from the lack of makeup elsewhere, and you'll fool everyone into thinking you're fresh as a daisy if your skin isn't as greasy as the bottom of a McDonald's bag. For good measure, make sure you don't have half of your lunch still in your teeth, too.
-If nail polish is chipped, take it off. This may be a personal pet peeve, but I feel like such a mess with chipped nails. It's almost always a better decision to go sans polish. Don't want to keep a whole bottle of remover and cotton balls in your desk drawer? Try nail polish remover wipes like these.
-Put on high heels. High heels serve an important purpose in a crunch time situation- they make you feel more pulled together and polished, which is always a confidence booster. Bonus: a fabulous pair of heels are all you need to go from "jeans and a t" to "wow!"
-Smooth out your hair with some serum or pull it up into an easy topknot or side braid. I'll admit, I'm not the best at doing my hair. I've mastered the sleek blowout, but for times that I don't have time to wash and dry, I pull my hair up in a fun topknot, or tease it at the crown and go for a polished, slicked back pony. If your hair is just a little frizzy, run a little glossing cream, serum, or hairspray (key word here is a little product- don't want to get your hair all greasy) through it before you head out the door.
And that's it! No one will be able to guess what you looked like five minutes ago.
What are your favorite ways to get a pulled together look on the go?
The nail polish! I'm so with you. Even though I currently have chipped nails, I typically just stay away from painting my nails because it's such a pain.
ReplyDeleteKaitlyn, when I know I'm going to be super busy I just skip it, too!
Deletelove the comparison of the greasy face to a the bottom of a McDonalds bag! CLASSIC! <3

CLever and great tips.
ReplyDeleteGreat post and great ideas! I agree especially with taking off your nail polish. Natural nails look much better and put together than chipped! I would add spraying perfume and maybe changing up something small like earrings! Going from studs to dangly makes me feel instant glam!
