What I Wore: Cabin Fever

So, I'm still really sick, and I'm going to be in Arizona for another week. Pneumonia is no fun! This weekend, I was feeling a little better and going a little crazy from being in the house for three weeks, so I went to lunch with my mom and some of her friends. I actually used my hair dryer, and put on a little makeup for the first time in three weeks (Note to self: bronzer is your best friend when you're sick!), and I still felt crummy, but getting dressed definitely helped! I stayed dressed up for all of an hour and a half, and as soon as I got home, I was back in my comfy clothes and camped out on the couch again.

Dress: Francesca's (borrowed from my sister's closet)
Shoes: Vintage, from my mom
Necklace: West Avenue Jewelry
Watch: MIchael Kors
Gold bangle: Catbird
Bead bracelet: gift from my sister- she picked out this gorgeous bracelet for me when she was in Italy!

New Nautical

Even though it's only January, spring styles have started popping up in stores. Since I'm in Arizona, where it's 75 degrees today, I thought I'd put together a little spring-ish outfit. I'm loving all of the subtle nautical accents that have been shown for the last couple seasons, and I think this look would be perfect for a variety of adventures this spring. It's nautical, but still pulled together and stylish- when you buy into a trend, you never want to look like you're wearing a costume!

1. Topshop top- love the bow back!

With Valentine's Day coming up, I wanted to share these sweet studs from BHLDN. They're the perfect gift for a Valentine, don't you think? ($85)

Bar Cart Inspiration

There's one home decor item that I've been obsessed with for the longest time. Even before I was anywhere near the legal drinking age, I've wanted a bar cart. I think the fixation began when I saw Richard and Emily's cart on Gilmore Girls, one of my favorite old TV shows! Once I'm settled in one city permanently, you can bet that I'll be hunting the perfect bar cart down. Until then, I just look at inspiration online. Here are a few of my current favorite carts making their rounds on the internet.

Do you love bar carts, too?

Newport Beach and San Diego Photo Diary

Hi everyone! I'm back! Sorry for the lack of posts the last couple of weeks. I wound up getting pneumonia and getting really sick while I was still in Arizona, and spent the last couple of weeks resting and coughing. And there's a funny thing about outfit photos- you have to get dressed in something other than yoga pants to take them, which hasn't exactly happened for the last couple of weeks.  I'm still in Arizona until my doctors clear me to fly home to Virginia, and I'm still feeling really sick, so it looks like I may be here a while longer, but I wanted to pop in and share some of my photos from Newport Beach (and a brief day trip to San Diego to ice skate on the beach), where I spent Christmas with Brett and my family this year. Newport is one of my favorite places ever, and I can't wait to spend the summer there again this summer.

What I Wore: Pink Pants

I've wanted a pair of really, really bright skinny jeans/pants for a while, but until this weekend, I had yet to find a pair that I loved and wasn't insanely priced. When I saw Kendi Everyday's post with her new hot pink H+M jeans, I knew I had found the perfect solution! I popped in to H+M, and walked out with my very own pair. It's way more color than I'm used to wearing, but I'm kind of in love with them...I wore them to dinner an hour after I bought them!

Jeans: H+M (similar)
Top: American Eagle (similar)
Jacket: Sanctuary Clothing (similar)
Shoes: Cole Haan

What I Wore: Double Trouble

So, I'm going to be totally honest. When I really love an outfit, sometimes I wear it a couple times in the same week, and that happens even more often when I'm traveling! I wore this outfit out for dinner with friends, as well as to watch the taping of an episode of the Jay Leno show when we were in California for Christmas (which was a blast, by the way!) both of which were in the same week, and didn't bat an eye about doing so. Hey, when I find something I like, I stick with it!

What I Wore: New Year's Eve

Hi everyone! Hope y'all had a great Christmas with your families and friends! I feel like it's been so long since I did a regular post- so much has happened in the last couple weeks! Brett and I arrived in Phoenix, took a little trip to Newport Beach (and Coronado) for Christmas with my family (photos to come soon!), celebrated a belated Christmas in Phoenix with Brett's family, and celebrated on New Year's Eve with some of our closest friends in Phoenix. It's been a crazy couple weeks, but it's been wonderful to spend time with our friends and family. Brett and I kept NYE pretty low key, opting to chill at home, playing games and hanging out with friends in lieu of going out, but I still wanted to dress up! My mom and sister picked this skirt out as one of my Christmas gifts, and right after I opened it, my mom said, "I could just picture this skirt on the blog!" So, I decided to wear it for my first outfit post of 2012! Since it was New Year's, I opted to pair it with some sequins and leopard, along with the Spike the Punch necklace that was a Christmas gift from my sister.

Skirt: J.Crew (similar)
Sequin Top: Free People
Cardigan: H+M (similar)
Necklace: Spike the Punch
Shoes: Cole Haan

What did you wear and do for New Year's Eve?

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful time with your family and friends over this holiday season. I thought I'd share a couple of my New Year's resolutions today! They aren't big, life-changing things, but a couple of things I know I need to improve on. Without further ado...

My first resolution is to improve my posture- because it's currently terrible. I slouch all the time, and I hate how lazy it looks! I also know that it's better for my back to stand up straight, so, no excuses!

And my other resolution is to improve my penmanship. I know that may sound kind of dated, but I do like to send handwritten notes from time to time, and I seriously have the handwriting of an eight year old boy.

What are your resolutions??
