What I Wore: Form and Function

More often than not, I tend to choose clothes for their aesthetics, and less for their function. I wear heels when my feet hurt, I suck it up and wear the belt that makes me feel like someone is squeezing my ribs (but makes my waist look great), you get the picture. This outfit was one of the rare instances where I chose function over form. You see, I'm a bit of an accident waiting to happen. I trip, spill, drop things,  injure myself, and generally make a mess of myself on a regular basis! Last week, I managed to burn my back with an ice pack. Yes, I burned myself with ice. Not one of my finer moments, and it made wearing anything other than yoga pants not fun! However, my wonderful parents came in town for the weekend, and there was no way I was wearing workout clothes while we were out and about, celebrating my birthday, so I opted for the next best thing: corduroys from American Eagle a couple seasons back. I was so happy to realize that since they were from a "teen" store, the waistband was lower than average, so no hurting my burn! I know they may not be the most flattering pair of  pants I own, but definitely better than my other options.

When picking your clothes, do you chose form over function?

  1. More often than not, I definitely pick form over function -- especially when it comes to shoes! And I love your sweater.

  2. I tend to go for form over function as well, although by the end of the day I regret my choice. It's usually my feet which pay the price :P
    Very cute boots btw!

  3. Aline- Thanks! They are seriously SO comfortable, too!

  4. Stripes! Love. You look so comfy and warm.

For me function and form go hand in hand. I won't buy something that's so very comfortable but frumpy. And on the other hand, I won't buy something that look as fabulous as ever, but doesn't fit or feel right on my body.
