Review: TRESemme Fresh Start Waterless Foam Shampoo

I have pretty dry hair, and I've been trying to "baby" it all summer by not washing it as much and rarely heat styling it. I have to admit though, I'm not a fan of the greasy-hair look and feel- yes, there are lazy days where I don't want to wash my hair (come on, I can't be the only one, right?) but generally, I don't like feeling all greasy. In high school and college, I had a brief obsession with bumble and bumble dry shampoo, which came in the form of an aerosol spray powder, but I hated how the powder felt (and since I had darker hair, the powder was brown, which was great for blending, but I frequently got brown fingernails from touching my hair- ick). While the bumble and bumble definitely did it's job, I wasn't crazy about it, and decided I needed to get off my lazy butt and just wash my hair everyday! Obviously, that habit started to dry my hair out, so I'm trying to remedy my ways!

Insert TRESemme FreshStart Waterless Foam Shampoo. I had heard of it, but hadn't ever thought to pick up a bottle til last week, when my mom and I were at the grocery store, and it was on sale for TWO dollars (usually is $6). It's a foam that you dispense into your hand, then rub into your head. After you rub it in your roots, you're supposed to rub it with a towel. Additionally, I blew dry my roots for maybe a minute, and it gave me a lot more volume!  I've used it on three day hair twice (don't fault me for my lazy habit research!) and while it didn't make my hair look just washed, it definitely looked like REALLY good second day hair. The product is also supposed to help eliminate odor, but I didn't really feel like my hair smelled beforehand, so I can't really attest to this. I would imagine that you could use more of it on your whole head, but to me, at that point, you probably just want to get in the shower.

Bottom line: this product is great for the morning you sleep late or are feeling a little lazy. It doesn't completely eliminate grease, but it does help perk your roots up  a bit and gives your hair some great texture in under a few minutes! At $6, it's a lot cheaper than most dry shampoos, so give it a go if it's a product you think you'd use!

  2. I hate going ANYWHERE without showering, but in times of extreme tardiness I've done it; and I feel like total crap when I do. I may indeed have to try this in case of such emergencies...

  3. I tried this product, and it actually made my hair look MORE greasy. I tried using less product, more product, and no matter what it made my hair look worse. The suave powder one made it look better, but it made my hair smell weird.

  4. This is obviously someone who has been paid to say nice things about this stuff. I know SEVERAL people (including myself) who have tried this, and none of us have had positive things to say about it. It leaves your hair looking worse than before. Plus it makes it look flat. It smells really nice, but looks like crap.

  5. Hi Anon- I definitely was not paid or given this as a sample to review. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you- I know that we all have different hair types, and the only thing I was reviewing was what my personal experience with this product was. Like I said in the post, I blew dry my roots after applying the foam, and I think that's what made it work so well for me. Anyways, sorry you didn't like the product, but it worked for me, so that's all I can review to.
