Cheap Thrills: Beauty under $10

While I like department store makeup for certain products, I love drugstore cheap thrills even more. While some parts of your beauty routine are hard to replicate at the drugstore, I've found a few products over the years that I love, both because they are awesome products, and because they are CHEAP. Plus, when you save money on makeup, you can have a little more shopping money, which is always a good thing in my book! Here are a few of my favorite cheap thrills of the moment:

1. Revlon Colorsilk Haircolor #30 Dark Brown 3N
Last summer, I was away from my beloved hair colorist while I was interning in NYC. I woke up one morning, realized there was no way I could wait another month to color my roots, and decided that I would give at-home hair color a try. I figured, if it worked, I could save a whole lot of money, and if it didn't, I'd go to a salon and have it fixed. I used this color, and was actually happier with the color than I had been with my salon color! Needless to say, I haven't looked back, and it's saved me a bundle! I'm not sure I can recommend trying to take your hair lighter, but darker, for me, hasn't been a problem! (Disclaimer: I've tried to cut my hair at home. Did not work well, and definitely don't recommend that. Yes, I realize it was not a smart move. ha!)

2. Loreal Vive Pro Color Care Shampoo for Color-Treated Dry Hair - 13 Oz and L'Oreal Vive Pro Color Vive Conditioner Hi-Gloss Conditioner, for Dry or Damaged Color-Treated 13 fl
At some point in the last year, I read about this wallet-friendly shampoo and conditioner, and I figured I'd give it a shot. Fast--forward six months later, and I still use this shampoo and conditioner. It seems like it's kept my color-treated, dry hair healthier than it was before, when I was using pricey salon shampoo. And bonus: It smells great!

3. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
This classic has been a staple of mine since high school, and I've never found a pricier cleanser that works as well for my skin. I know different skin products work better for some than others, but I love this one, and I'm happy to report it does not bleach out my towels like some other cleansers I've tried.

4. Maybelline The Falsies Volum'Express Mascara - Blackest Black
I know I've raved about this before, but I've been using this mascara for about six weeks, and majorly love it, for both  the price, and the formula. I've always used pricier Lancome mascara, but this definitely does the trick, and at only $5, to boot!

5. Nivea A Kiss of Shine Pink Glossy Lip Care 10ml/0.35oz
Until recently, I haven't been the hugest fan of lip color. I've been slowly making sure to add something to my lips in the mornings, but I keep this gloss in my purse for touch ups throughout today. The light pink color is just enough to brighten my lips, but not too bright that I can't put it on without a mirror. Plus, it's ultra-moisturizing, which will be great for the dry winter months ahead!

What are your favorite drugstore beauty products? Does anyone else use at-home hair color?

  3. I've had my hair dyed at the salon once....other than that one time, I regularly use drug store hair dye. I've been scolded by my hairdresser friend for doing so, but the difference in price is so exponential, I feel it's the only way to go!
