The Cords that Bind

In the colder months, if I'm not wearing a dress with tights or boots, it is a pretty safe bet I'm wearing skinny jeans. Predictable? Yes. But it has become a sort of uniform of sorts, or at the very least, a jumping off point. In the last year though, I've tried to branch out a bit. When I was shopping for Christmas last year, I came across a pair of skinny corduroy pants on sale, and they fit perfectly. I wound up getting a lot of wear out of them, and am anxiously awaiting the temperatures to drop again to bring them out of my closet. This Fall, I saw tons of skinny cords in the pages of magazines, and here are my top three picks:

I love these Always Skinny cords from the Gap, $60. They certainly live up to their skinny name- totally tight all the way through the ankle. These come in a variety of colors, but I'm really digging the tomato red (I don't have to tell you not to wear these with green in December...right?). Paired with a denim or white button up, these would definitely make my day a whole lot brighter.

J. Crew never disappoints, and these Vintage Matchstick corduroy pants, $79, are no exception. They have a variety of muted shades, and the dark loden, in my opinion, would be a great, less literal, way to get in on the military trend. I'd hem mine to ankle length, and sport them with a black v-neck sweater and black ballet flats for Fall shopping and lunch with friends.

I haven't personally tried on these Joe's Jeans The Chelsea cords, but I have heard great things about the fit and the fact that they don't stretch out as easily as other cords. They run $139 at Piperlime, and the soft charcoal would be perfect with a bright top and wedges for a dinner date.

Would you wear corduroys? If so, what would be your color of choice?

  2. I love your skinny jeans pick. I actually just got some gray skinny jeggings for the fall and I am loving it. Whenever I get something new I have to wear it for at least two days in a row....I probably should not do that for those that see me every day:)
