Loving right now: Ampersands

I have recently developed a major crush on a typography element: ampersands. Whether in a plain Word document, a clothing label, wedding invitation, or necklaces, to me, the ampersand is so much sweeter than just a plain "and". In my online shopping, I recently turned up five ways to bring ampersands into everyday life.

First up is this sweet vintage letterpress necklace from Etsy seller Gwen Delicous. I love the idea of the real letterpress symbol being worn around your neck. I can't help but wonder what the letterpress symbol was used as before it was turned in to a necklace. Perhaps it played a part in personal notecards, wedding invitations, or other correspondence.

Next, we have this adorable ampersand pillow , also on Etsy, by seller B. Poetic Home. I think that this could be a great addition to any home, and I think it would look great on my bed with black sheets. I love the black and white color pallet- it is so crisp, and the shape of the pillow is fun, too!

I'm at an age where a lot of my friends are getting married, and I love gifting brides-to-be stationary as a shower gift. Brides always have so many thank you notes to write, and new stationary is always fun to have! I love these ampersand notecards by Etsy seller In a Card for newlyweds, or any couple, for that matter - such a simple design, and they would be perfect for any sort of correspondence a couple may have.

I am hoping that this Ampersand ID chart from Keep Calm Gallery is reprinted soon - I'm not one bit surprised that this beauty sold out so quickly! It is based on the Snellen eye chart, and would certainly be a conversation starter in any home! I have terrible vision, but I think even I could ace this eye exam.

This ampersand paperweight would be an adorable addition to a desk or bookshelf of any writer or book enthusiast. It is no surprise that Assouline, the printer of such lovely art books, would create such a stylish decor piece.

  4. Wow!! I would have never thought of using the ampersand on any of those things. That is really cool. My favorite is the necklace. It's elegant, yet a little bit edgy and rough. I normally wouldn't wear anything like that, but I really love it.
